MARUSSIA is the first Russian sport car manufacturer established in 2007 owned by Nikolai Fomenko a Russian musician, actor and motor racer. In 2010, MARUSSIA acquired controlling stake in Richard Bransons' Virgin Formula One Team hence introduction of MARRUSIA F1 team in 2012 Grand Prix.
Spainiard, Maria de Villota will be the first lady driver for MARUSSIA F1 team since the previous Italian driver Lella Lombardi in the 1975 Spanish Grand Prix.
