Bucket-wheel excavator - "Strip mining" 's monster truck


Bucket-wheel excavators are heavy equipment used in lignite ( brown coal ) surface mining - 'strip mining' cost USD$100 million, has the capacity of excavating/mining 240,000 metric tonnes of brown coal daily and such tremendous earthmover is operated by 5 persons. They are among the largest vehicles ever constructed, and the biggest bucket-wheel excavator ever built, the MAN Takraf RB293, is the largest terrestrial vehicle in human history.
